We decided to continue to experiment with the Ancho Reyes liqueur I picked up Friday. When looking at Ancho Reyes website to get ideas and they have an old fashioned recipe posted. Well, we like old fashioneds…
…So we went for it. The Ancho Reyes adds a nice twist on the classic bringing in a bit of spice along with a sweet, earthy, smokiness that is subtle and well balanced.
- 1 part Ancho Reyes Original
- 1 part Bourbon
- ¼ part Rich Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
- 2 Dashes Orange Bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir to chill and strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Garnish with an orange twist (Unfortunately, we didn’t have any oranges so no garnish tonight).
