Trying a variation on a hot toddy to warm up after shoveling. I got the idea for this from an article on Quartzy, A TURMERIC HOT TODDY IS A MELLOW MID-WINTER COCKTAIL TO SIP AND SAVOR, that suggested turmeric in a hot toddy and I liked the idea of using black tea instead of just hot water.
I figured why not take it one step further and use chai tea instead of plain black tea as it already has all the spices you’d want in your toddy. It turned out very tasty although maybe a bit sweet for my taste.
- 1/4 cup freshly brewed chai tea
- 1 ounce #bourbon
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- Lemon slice and cinnamon stick for garnish
Prepare the hot tea and while it is steeping add the maple syrup lemon juice and bourbon to a glass mug. Mix thoroughly. One tea is steeped add to the mug and mix again. Garnish with a slice of lemon a bit of grated cinnamon and a cinnamon stick.
